Defeating the odds!
On Saturday 22 April 2017, Eugene van der Merwe endeavoured to swim 20km from Pringle Bay to Gordon’s Bay to raise awareness for the Helen Harder Foundation. He braved shark, jellyfish and blue bottle infested waters, as well as extreme currents, rapid changing weather coupled with strong winds. Eugene completed his journey in just over seven hours and not only raised awareness but also raised R24 500, which will be used offer financial assistance and support to young women fighting breast cancer. Helen Harder Foundation 4th Annual Fundraiser
Thank you to everyone who contributed to making our annual Winter Ball at the Lord Charles Hotel such a huge success. We raised approximately R200 000, which will be used to raise awareness, distribute pamper packs and assist young women with their medical expenses, where needed. The stunning Vanessa Haywood Sands dressed in an exclusive designer dress was the MC for the evening. Slow Packing
Good luck to Johanna Botha that will embark on the Tankwa Camino – a 256 km walk over 10 days on Friday 29 September. She is doing this incredible pilgrimage in support of young women diagnosed with breast cancer and hoping to raise funds for the Helen Harder Foundation. Huis Ten Bosch
Lindie Steenkamp and Lindika Byron visited Huis Ten Bosch where they presented a talk to more than 100 young ladies about the importance of knowing their bodies and regular self-examination. Each lady received a pamphlet and pink wristband. To show their support for Breast Awareness Month they were challenged to follow the Helen Harder Foundation on Facebook and Instagram.
